The Link Between Sustainability and Culture

We believe the best approach is to work close to the community and our organisation’s focus is on both sustainability and culture. Indonesia is one of the most culturally rich and diverse countries in the world and the region of central Kalimantan is particularly interesting. Our cultural programs will seek to explore creativity, art, theatre, performance, music and via this medium we will also aim to communicate themes of environmental sustainability.

‘ Penjelajahan Orang Hutan- Adventure of the Orangutan’,

Penjelajahan Orang Utan (Adventure of the Orangutan) was an exceptional street theatre project created in collaboration with Curious Legends – Australia and Permakultur Kalimantan Foundation. The aim of the project was to inspire local villagers to take action towards sustainability through fun and celebratory theatre. Using a mixture of community engagement, performance workshops, and making sessions, Indonesian and Australian artists worked in partnership with Yayasan Permakultur Kalimantan to create an inspired series of performances with the local community.
This extraordinary environmental performance project toured 6 villages throughout the region and engaged over 300 local children throughout May and June 2016.

Penjelajahan Orang Utan (Adventure of the Orangutan) adalah program permaculture teater jalanan yang diciptakan dari hasil kerja sama dengan Curious Legends-Australia dan Permakultur Kalimantan Foundation. Tujuan kami adalah untuk memberikan inspirasi kepada masyarakat sekitar untuk melakukan aksi terhadap system keberlanjutan dengan hal menyenangkan dan dengan perayaan kreatif teater. Penggabungan dari hasil keterlibatan masyarakat, workshop seni pertunjukan dan beberapa sesi pembuatan artistik.
3 seniman Australia bekerjasama dengan staf dari Yayasan Kalimantan Permakultur akan menciptakan serangkaian seni pertunjukan dengan masyarakat setempat.
Hasil kolaborasi Ini kemudian akan dipentaskan di beberapa desa/kampung diwilayah sekitar (Bukit Batu), serta dikota utama Palangka Raya. Yang dimulai bulan Mei 2016, proyek ini akan berjalan sampai awal Juni di Kalimantan Tengah, Indonesia.
